AUCKLAND DEAF SOCIETY VOLUNTEER GROUNDSMAN

Do you take pride in your Deaf club? Can you help us keep the place looking tidy for our community?

We need a volunteer to make sure the outside areas at Auckland Deaf Society are maintained to give a good impression to all visitors and our Deaf community.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •   Maintaining and cleaning of the Auckland Deaf Society site
  •   Mowing of the lawns and trimming of the edges
  •   Water blasting the walkways
  •   Picking up litter around the building
  •   Be responsible for the gardening and maintenance equipment
  •   Tell us about any repairs or if we need to replace faulty equipment
  •   Health and safety requirements
  •   Making sure that all lawns and hedges are kept tidy

Hours of work will be determined by the volunteer as and when required, but there would be a minimum of 6 hours, twice a month.

Do you have strong secretarial skills?

YOU WILL NEED TO:

  • Organise meeting rooms

  • Book interpreters

  • Arrange refreshments

  • Take minutes

  • Work with the chairperson and CEO

  • Set agendas and meeting dates

  • Attend an evening meeting every two months

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Excellent written English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word
  • A reasonable standard of computer literacy
  • A knowledge of NZSL and Deaf culture would be helpful
